About Mack's Automotive
Three Generations of Quality Since 1959
Since opening in 1959, Mack’s Automotive has been a leader in the automotive repair business in Fairfield under the leadership of three generations, thanks to cutting-edge equipment and a service-oriented staff.
Founder Daryl McDowell originally opened the collision repair shop in 1959. His son, Doug McDowell, took over from 1979 to 1995. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, current owner Jason Craun reopened the body shop in 2019 and has been building on that family legacy ever since.

Equipped for Today’s Vehicles
One reason Mack’s has seen such success since reopening is its Global Finishing Solutions paint booth. The booth bakes a fresh coat of paint for 25 minutes, and after letting it set for just another 20 minutes, the vehicle is ready for reassembly – a far cry from the ’70s and ’80s, when shops had to wait a whole day for paint to dry.
In addition to the paint booth, Mack’s runs a REVO Infrared Curing System with both single and dual heads. It performs a full cure on filler in nine minutes and a full cure on primer in six minutes, and it eliminates shrinkage when the paint is baked on. Add in our spot welder, Snap-on Zeus+ diagnostics and Snap-on tools, and our team has what it takes to repair today’s vehicles the right way.
Today, Mack’s operates from a brand-new, larger facility at 406 S 23rd St. in Fairfield, giving our team more room to work and our customers a better experience from drop-off to pick-up.
